School is near, Pool needs to stay clear

School is just around the corner and many Northern states will start thinking about closing up their pools, Southern states will be swimming less. Never the less you want to keep your pool filter cartridge in good condition.

One way to easily clean your pool filter cartridge is to use a Water Wand, offered by Pool Cartridge Deals for just $17.00. The Water Wand can be found on http://www.poolcartridgedeals.com/ or directly by clicking on this link: Water Wand.
Pool Cartridge Deals offers free shipping with a small handling fee, that is one handling fee for the entire order.
The Water Wand hooks up to your garden hose and cleans 8 pleats at a time. Start at the top of your cartridge and work down. This makes cleaning that cartridge much easier. Enjoy your pool and get those kids ready for school with a smile and a hug.

How to measure your filter cartridge.

A. Measure the outside diameter of the cartridge in inches. (+/- 1/16)

B. Measure the overall length of the cartridge in inches (+/- 1/16), including the end caps. Do not include any handles, strings, etc. A more accurate measurement is made by measuring through the center of the cartridge when possible.

C. If the top and/or bottom is open, measure the inside diameter of the opening (+/- 1/16 in.). Match the cartridge end cap configuration to a corresponding one in the complete end cap gallery.

D. Make note of the manufacturer (OEM) and model number of the filter the replacement cartridge will be installed in.

E. Take note whether or not there is a center core (PVC pipe in center). Also count the number of pleats (+/- 2).

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR CARTRIDGE FILTER

Cleaning your swimming pool cartridge fitler is really quite an easy task. The filter should be cleaned anytime the pressure on the filter guage reads 8 - 10 pounds higher than normal running pressure. To clean your filter simply follow these easy steps:

1. Turn off your pool equipment (it is best to turn off the master switch so the timer does not automatically turn on the equipment while the filter is taken apart)
2. Release the pressure from your pool filter tank by opening the release valve which is ususlly located near the pressure guage.
3. Unscrew the band around the middle or top of the tank to remove the tank top
4. Remove the cartridges from inside the filter (cartridge pool filters hold 1 - 4 cartridges so REFER TO YOUR OWNERS MANUAL FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON REMOVING THE CARTRIDGE/S)
5. Using a cleaning device such as a water wand attached to your garden hose gently wash off the losoe debris and sand from the unit. Spray from the top of the cartridge down. To remove tougher debris spray with a cartridge spray cleaner or soak (follow directions on bottle of cleaner). Re-rinse the unit. DO NOT use a high power sprayer such as a power washer or car wash sprayer as this can damage the filter media and reduce the life of the cartridge.
6. Once the cartridge is clean it may be returned to the pool filter. Be sure you have removed all cleaner residue. **If using muriatic acid to remove tough stains only use 1 part Muriatic Acid to 20 parts water, add acid to water and HANDLE WITH CARE**
7. If you have a back up set of cartridges you may place them in the filter and allow your newly cleaned ones to dry out. After they are dry brush off with a soft brush and store for future use.
